The feature race of the day and Investec Derby trail, the Betfred Dante Stakes saw Bonfire take victory on his seasonal debut here on the Knavesmire.

Opening Day 2012 Season
16th May 2012
The 2012 York Racecourse season opened with the first day of the Dante Festival. A top day of racing saw the Lord Lloyd-Webber's horse - The Fugue - ridden by William Buick win the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes.

October Finale
10th October 2011
Racegoers to the last two days of the season at the Knavesmire witnessed some competitive high quality racing with Bannock winning the Listed Coral Rockingham Stakes and Sirius Prospect the Coral Sprint Trophy.

In a year that saw York break its modern day attendance record, the top trainer prize went to Richard Fahey for the sixth consecutive season. In spite of Silvestre de Sousa recording 4 winners on the final days racing, Paul Hanagan took the top Jockey title for the third consecutive season.
