Macmillan Charity Day Raises a record Sum

The Macmillan Charity Day has raised a record sum for good causes, in excess of £340,000.


The Macmillan Charity race itself raised more the £65,000 as supporters of the twelve intrepid riders cheered them around the nine furlongs of the Knavesmire. First passed the post was Venetia Wrigley partnering Extraterrestrial from the yard of Richard Fahey, but all the participants rightly felt like winners.

A crowd of 27,710 enjoyed the eight race card that also saw Carol Bartley win her weight in GH Mumm champagne after Nanton snatched the Queen Mother’s Cup in a photo finish from Jo Mason aboard Warlu Way.

The 2013 Season starts with a hat-trick of winners for Ryan Moore

Ryan Moore rides a hat-trick of winners on the opening day of the season of Racing on the Knavesmire, which included riding Liber Nauticus to victory in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes. The Sir Michael Stoute trained Liber Nauticus is set to head for the Investec Oaks at Epsom after landing the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes on the first day of the May Meeting at York.

Paul Hanagan rides a hat trick of winners on the closing day of the season

Paul Hanagan became York's top jockey yet again after winning three of the seven races on the final day of the season at York. A large crowd basked in the beautiful autumn sunshine and also saw Matthew Lawson on 'Regal Parade' win the feature race; The Coral Sprint Trophy.

Family Raceday at York

The ever popular family raceday at York drew large crowds who enjoyed a wonderful sunny fun packed afternoon of racing, activities, competitions and appearances of the famous Pepper Pig.

Ebor Day

The 4 day Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival concluded with some fine races in front of a large enthusiastic crowd. The ever popular Frankie Dettori delighted racegoers winning the Betfred Ebor riding Willing Foe for Godolhpin.

Macmillan Charity Day -16th June 2012

A fantastic Macmillan Charity Day staged at York on June 16th raised a record sum for good causes. A crowd of 26,000 played its part and were rewarded with an excellent days racing in spite of the weather.

The feature race of the day, the Bond Tyres Trophy went to Sholaan trained by William Haggas and ridden by Liam Jones. New to the card was a Listed contest over a mile and Tullius became the first winner of the Ian and Kate Hall Ganton Stakes.
