Macmillan Charity Day Raises a record Sum

15th June 2013
The Macmillan Charity Day has raised a record sum for good causes, in excess of £340,000.

The Macmillan Charity race itself raised more the £65,000 as supporters of the twelve intrepid riders cheered them around the nine furlongs of the Knavesmire. First passed the post was Venetia Wrigley partnering Extraterrestrial from the yard of Richard Fahey, but all the participants rightly felt like winners.

A crowd of 27,710 enjoyed the eight race card that also saw Carol Bartley win her weight in GH Mumm champagne after Nanton snatched the Queen Mother’s Cup in a photo finish from Jo Mason aboard Warlu Way.
