Local trainers triumph on final day of the Dante festival

Yorkshire trainers Richard Fahey and Mick Easterby both completed doubles on the final day of York’s Dante meeting. Fahey started the ball rolling with the well fancied Miss Work Of Art in the opening race. He completed the double in the very next race when the tough Tepmokea landed the Jorvik Stakes.
Mick Easterby also landed the big price double with Thirteen Shivers ridden by David Nolan in The Ralph Raper Memorial Stakes, and Hoof It ridden by Kieren Fallon in the handicap.

Meanwhile Duncun ridden by William Buick won the feature race: The Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup

The Queen's Carlton House wins the totesport Dante

An exciting day on the knavesmire saw the Queen's horse Carlton House saddled by Ryan Moore win the totesport Dante Stakes.

This race victory, which is regarded as a key Derby trial, now means he is favourite for the Investec sponsored race next month.

First Day of the Dante Festival 2011

The John Gosden trained Joviality has won the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes, the Investec Oaks trial on the first day of the Dante Meeting at York.

She got the better of a thrilling battle with Barefoot Lady down the Knavesmire straight, finally landing the spoils by a head, with the others, including favourite Arizona Jewel and Irish hope Amazing Beauty well beaten.

Delegator will also head to Royal Ascot after romping to victory in the Duke of York Blue Square Stakes, the big sprint of the Dante Meeting at York.
